SA: SA amusement ride industry called to emergency summit

South Australia's amusement ride industry will attend an emergency summit next week
following separate ride collapses which injured 39 people.

State Workplace Relations Minister ROB LAWSON has called the meeting of industry leaders
in the wake of the latest ride collapse at a Christmas Party last Sunday.

A mother and her eight year-old son were hospitalised and six other people lightly
injured after the Sizzler ride collapsed at at Taperoo in Adelaide's north-east.

The incident followed the collapse of the Spin Dragon ride at the Royal Adelaide Show
on September 2 this year which injured 31 people.

Mr LAWSON says next week's summit will discuss whether existing safety regulations
for show rides in the state were adequate.
