VIC:Barnett tells Tasmania to pull its weight

New Tasmanian premier LARA GIDDINGS has jumped to the defence of her island state ..

after her West Australian counterpart accused it of being Australia's national park ..

which rejects development.

COLIN BARNETT says while he supports the redistribution of wealth in Australia through
GST .. there should be pressure on states to encourage economic development.

He's told Sky News .. if Tasmania continues to reject any sort of development .. what
right do they have to take the spoils of hard work in other states.

But Ms GIDDINGS says that's absurd .. with the Tasmanian government supporting the
development of a pulp mill .. and a resurgence in the state's mining industry.
